After finishing grade 12 with 36 points in 2015 and failing to secure a study loan, Verner Haimbili was left hopeless, with no money to pay for his studies, leaving him in the dark with no direction. The Mobile Telecommunications Limited, MTC, announced today that they will aid him with a full bursary to further his studies towards the Bachelor of Veterinary at the University of Namibia.
God always has things in control, and we now believe that he used the article published in the Namibian newspaper beginning of this week, about a high school remarkable performer, to bless him in his time of need; thanks to MTC for their confidence and willingness to help this brilliant young man to achieve his goals.
There are many stories left untold; each one as unique as the person to whom it belongs, but when The Namibian newspaper this week published a story of the 23-year-old Verner Haimbili who was struggling with funds to finance his tertiary education, we have been praying that something positive comes his way.
After learning that MTC came to his rescue, Biashara newspaper reached out to Haimbili, who expressed his excitement for receiving a bursary, stating that he is finally going to pursue his dream of becoming a Vet doctor.
“I went to their office to get a commitment letter and I couldn’t be more thankful to God and MTC for granting me this opportunity. My education has always been of utmost importance to me, and to be rewarded in this way when I am at rock bottom is very humbling. This bursary is an absolute answer to many people’s prayers. I knew that the Lord would come through one day, and this is the day. I will forever be grateful for this gift, and I cannot thank MTC enough for that”, Haimbili said.
Haimbili, whose father passed on when he was only 7, is born in a family of 8, raised by a single, unemployed mother. He has had hopes of becoming a Vet doctor but after failing to make a cut in the NSAF loan selection list despite his above-average points, his future was left in ambush.
MTC’s Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo said that they are excited to make this young man’s dreams come true and connect him to a future he will be proud. “Everybody deserves an opportunity in life and we want to give him this opportunity so he can empower himself with a qualification that will change his and his families live forever. We wish the young man well and we would like to thank the University of Namibia for assisting him with his application”. Ekandjo said
We applaud MTC for their support towards the young man’s career. We would like to wish Haimbili the best of luck in his academic journey. Our greatest pride is seeing him going to school again.
