The Oshikuku Trade Association will join hands with Thikamapo Biogas and Farming cc to launch the project on the 20th of November 2020 at the Oshikuku Town Lodge.
“Thikamapo Biogas is a unique initiative and with sustainable products like gas and manure, the project will become a leader in the renewable energy industry,” said Parastus Nepolo, the Otshikuku Trade Association’s Chairperson.
Nepolo who is spearheading the project launch together with Vilho Kalimbo, said that the Trade Association joined hands with Thikamapo Biogas and farming cc because the Association’s aim is to promote economic and trade initiatives by its members.
He added that the Association is determined to team up with local entrepreneurs who are pursuing growth, sustainability and investment in the current climate. “The climate change and emissions management is a topic for environmentalists nowadays. We are pleased to see young people initiating technologies that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Namibia,” Nepolo emphasized.
This project uses manure and other organic wastes to produce gas and generate electricity. It also provides a liquid fertilizer byproduct useful to farmers. The project is anticipated to expand soon as they look set to extend this service to other regions. Thikamapo is estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the same time making life easier for local households.
“Putting together an event of this magnitude requires a lot of work logistically, so we needed to find partners who were interested in this type of venture; luckily the Association came to our rescue,” said Kalimbo Vilho, the Founder of Thikamapo Biogas and Farming cc.
Kalimbo urged the public to come in numbers, to witness this initiative and see how the product works. He said that a lot of demonstrations will be done at the launch. He added that this is an important rural development project that has economic, environmental and long-term societal benefits through waste reduction, energy creation and advanced technology application.
