Pupkewitz Megabuild and Team Receive National Praise for the “Pimp My Shack” Initiative

We often talk about and share stories of many ‘charitable activities’ and ‘give-back-to-the community’ initiatives, but Megabuild and team are to be commended for their ‘Pimp My Shack” initiative. The company recently awarded three Windhoek residents who own shacks, a ‘Shack renovation make-over’ to the value of N$30,000 and it left the nation wowed.

Speaking to Biashara newspaper, Pupkewitz Megabuild’ Marketing Manager Clarissa Raty said that the objective of Pimp my Shack is to demonstrate how shacks can be renovated and styled the Do-It-Yourself, way. This is also a lesson made easy for families to copy and do it for themselves via wise and affordable spending tips that add additional long-lasting value to their homes and turning them into a comfortable and safe home.

“We know that over 700 000 Namibian families live in shacks. Initiatives such as the Shack Dwellers Federation supported by the three-way partnership of the Pupkewitz Foundation, Ohorongo Cement and FNB have already built over 250 houses for affected families. Now, Pupkewitz Megabuild and team would like to reach out and share easy and affordable Do-It-Yourself Tips with shack dwellers for their homes” said Raty.

Families of Amutulo Frans, Victoria Amunyela and Ndapewashiwa Nghifiudja received a shack renovation make-over to the value of N$30,000 each, a prize that did not have to be exchanged for cash. Many people took to social media their appreciation to the company for the tangible benefit of giving, praising the company for bringing up this pleasant feeling of connectedness and the satisfaction of at least trying to make the world a better place. Initiatives such as this, contribute to bettering the community and also can serve as good publicity for any business.

The team of Biashara took their hats off for Megabuild and team, for this incredible work. As a business with over 25 years of experience, they could not have made it this far without the reciprocated support of the community and with this competition they have just shown their appreciation and willingness to find different innovative ways to always give back to the community.
