Organized by Prosper Clothing Co – the Ongha Annual Festival will be held from the 18th to the 20th of December 2020 at Putukeni Park of Ongha in the Ohangwena region.
Founded in 2018, the festival has become one of the most reputable and authoritative brand exhibition expos with high specification at a high level through development. The Festival offers young Namibian entrepreneurs who are full of vitality, an inter-trade opportunity and to use this platform to educate and find amicable solutions to modern-day issues happening in our country.
Speaking to Biashara newspaper, Ismael Autanga, the event organizer said that the festival aims to fulfil specific communal purposes, such as creating a platform to showcase youth artistry, providing trading space for traders, SMEs & entrepreneurs and for corporate entities to exchange ideas and innovations with the general public.
“This initiative started back in 2018 and it keeps on getting bigger and better with age. Last year it was held in Okongo on request of the community members there. We had about 100 exhibitors from various sectors with 50% of them from the informal sectors mainly Kapana traders. This is our platform to showcase our culture, tradition and values as part of our identity, while also allowing cooperates and government institutions to bring service to the people” Autanga said.
Autanga said they have chosen Ohangwena region because it’s the 4th biggest region in Namibia and yet it lacks entertainment and other frivolous activities. “The region has for the longest time been deprived of opportunities, so we cannot always rely on the government for funds and information but rather transform the region and create opportunities for the youth” Autanga added
He said that events of this magnitude require a lot of expenses and logistics; finding sponsorship from corporate companies outside the region has been the most difficult part of in the preparation stage, but either way, they are determined to still make things happen.
Autanga invites entrepreneurs from the region and other parts of Namibia to participate and showcase their products and services at this event. Each night will be an eventful night with entertainments by different artists. The public can call Autanga on 0813372288/ 0813660258 regarding performances and stall booking at Ongha or Festival.
