The Khomas Regional Governor, Honourable Laura McLead- Katjirua said the newly inaugurated constituency councilors hold a vital role to facilitate sustainable development and improving service delivery.
Speaking at the inauguration event, the honorable governor said the broad mandate of local government officials is to promote developmental local government and facilitate socio-economic development at the local municipal level.
“To represent the community or to be of service to the Khomas community sounds very simple but it is indeed a great patriotic and loyal sacrifice because you commit yourself to give firsthand account of community needs, aspirations and wishes” McLead- Katjirua said.
McLead- Katjirua urged councilors to set affordable and achievable priorities in the corporate business plan, and ensure that the local government’s asset management strategy is developed and implemented, with appropriate resources for that process.
“You have become a full mandated policymaker, development driver, a transmitting belt of the government national development plans and programs at the sub-national level. You are now equally responsible and accountable to the success and failure of this Khomas Regional Council and you will carry its image out to the community at all times” McLead- Katjirua added
