If you have dreams of learning the art of cooking and are wondering where to start, your first stop should be Silver Spoon Hospitality Academy. The vocational training facility is open for applications for their next chef class intake this coming July.
Silver Spoon opened its doors in 2016 by owner, renowned Hotelier Mr. Tom Mutavdzic, and is affiliated with Chef MLK School of Cooking in South Africa. The institution is accredited by Namibia Qualification Authority (NQA), National Training Authority (NTA), and internationally City & Guilds and Highfield International. The classes are also based on the curriculums of City & Guilds and Highfield International
For enrolment, one only need to be fluent in English, must have reasonable numeracy skills and should be of the age 16 or above. A compulsory aptitude test is also carried out after enrolment to ensure that a candidate meets the minimum requirements.
Some of the courses on offer are Chef Diploma, Restaurant Management Program, The courses range from 12 to 24 months on a full time basis.
Extra classes not part of their structured educational program include Basic Cooking and Baking Classes and Fun Cooking Evenings. The latter is held twice a month, and students are taught how to prepare three course meals, where you only need to come with the class fee. Though number for such classes are limited so it is advisable to plan ahead by booking your spot.
